Am
I permitted to watch the training process? |
| Absolutely.
Owners are welcome and strongly encouraged to watch training
sessions as often as possible. You are actually REQUIRED to
attend training sessions a minimum of once per week to see
your horse's progress and learn how to get the same results
at home. It is your responsibility to schedule these sessions
with your horse. |
Can
I come out to watch other horse's training sessions before,
during, or after my horse is in training? |
| Absolutely.
Just ask for the most current schedule and you are welcome
to watch any session you like. |
Am
I going to get the opportunity to ride/work with my horse
during a training session to better understand how to work
with him when I take him home? |
| Yes.
Once your horse is going safely and within your abilities,
you will be taught how to do all of the training exercises
your horse has learned. |
Are
helmets required even if I am riding my own horse? |
| Yes.
It is the stable's policy that all mounted riders wear an
ASTM/SEI certified equestrian helmet. |
Do
I need my own helmet? |
| No.
There is a limited selection of schooling helmets available
for use. |
Can
I come out to see my horse at any time? |
| Yes.
You are always welcome to visit your horse without making
an appointment. |
Can
I work with my horse outside of training sessions? |
| No.
Consistency is important and for that reason the trainer needs
to be present to make sure that your horse is handled in a
manner consistent with the training method. As you and your
horse progress, you will be given more responsibilities as
you learn how to take on the "trainer" role when
you take your horse home. Your responsibilities or tasks can
be completed during training sessions and will be assigned
to you. |
What
do I need to bring? |
| All
of the equipment that you currently use or intend to use on
your horse needs to be brought with him to training. This
is important for evaluating saddle and bridle fit, bit adjustment,
and more. |
If
my horse is hard to catch, can I leave the halter on? |
| No.
If your horse is difficult to catch, the training program
will address the issue and remedy it. |
What
do we do if we have an appointment during inclement weather? |
| The
stable restricts riding in temperatures below 0 degrees, a
heat index of over 100 degrees, or tornado watches and warnings.
In severe rain or hail, we may reschedule because it becomes
hard to hear in the indoor arena. |
When
is payment due? |
| Payment
is due in advance or when your horse arrives at the stable.
Every payment following is due on the 1st of every month.
You can choose to pre-pay bi-weekly or weekly if necessary. |
Do
I need to give you my original Coggins Test? |
| No.
We do need to see the original upon your horse's arrival,
and please provide a copy to keep on file. |
How
do you manage adding my horse to an outdoor board herd? |
| All
new training horses are introduced carefully into herds. We
pair them with compatible personalities and energy levels
to encourage a happy and balanced herd. |
Does
my horse need insurance to be in training? |
| No.
However, if your horse is not insured and something happens
to him while he is boarded at the stable, you cannot claim
that your horse is worth in excess of $3,000. If you believe
that your horse is worth in excess of that amount, it is recommended
that you insure him. |
