Midsummer Horse Show Results

Right now, we’re diving headfirst into show season, with quite a few shows already under our belt.  After the kickoff of the Minnesota Horse Expo and Midwest Horse Fair, we started off at Wild Bill’s local WSCA show, where Kristi Swarthwood and Ima Krymsun Rose (“Coco”) won the Hobby Horse classand a $100 gift certificate to the Hobby Horse Clothing Company.  Kathy Rueth and Dynamic Ninety Nine (“Buddy”) came in a close second. Laina Stashek and her horse Dee Bar Ditch Witch (“Lenora”) did showmanship for the first time, and Staci’s student Courtney Wilson showed lesson horse Kandy’s Katmai (“Katmai”) and won a 3rd place in showmanship for 13 and under.

The next weekend, we were “magically whisked away” to Arena, WI where we showed at the Timeless Farm Hunter Jumper show.  Maeve Tworek showed lesson horse Kandy’s Katmai (“Katmai”) in the pony hunters and took a 5th in the Hunter Classic.  She also showed her horse Estebon and took Champion of the Green Hunter Division.  Staci showed Molly McIlquham’s arabian gelding, Alladistad (“Charlie”) in hunter over fences and under saddle, winning a couple 2nd place ribbons.  Staci also showed Peter Smars’ Oldenburg mare, Olympia in the jumper division, and Vicki Jess’ Hanoverian cross gelding, Cinnfully Good, winning Reserve Champion of the walk-trot division in his first show.  Kathy Rueth showed Dynamic Ninety Nine (“Buddy”) in the green hunter on the flat division.

We then went to Minneapolis to show with Kristi Swarthwood and Ima Krymsun Rose (“Coco”).  It was her 3rd show, with moments of brilliance and moments of green-ness, but overall she was a good girl and we were happy with her performance in the big classes full of great competitors.

The next weekend, we were off to the Indianhead Arabian Horse Society show in Rice Lake, WI with Holly Schindler and MV Gamask Emeera.  With me handling, Emeera took a 3rd in the Arabian mares at halter.  Then, Holly rode her in their first class together – the Theraputic Riding class – where riders with disabilities show off their skills in riding and guiding a horse.  Holly took a well deserved 4th place ribbon.

Last weekend, on Saturday, Kathy Rueth and Dynamic Ninety Nine (“Buddy”) went to the WPHA Paint show in Jefferson, WI.  They took a 2nd and a 3rd in hunter under saddle, getting their first paint points of the year!  Go Kathy!  It was a long drive, but well worth it.  It was a nice little getaway for the both of us, camping out in the trailer and we spent our night scoping out all the great places to eat in Jefferson.  The next day, I was off again, this time to the Eau Claire Bit and Spur show where 4 of our riders showed, including Theresa Strand and her Paint gelding Lookin Like A Gentleman (“Doc”), Courtney Wilson and lesson horse Ready Teddy (“Teddy”), Jordan Jehn and her pony Lucky, and Denette Plansky rode lesson horse Kandy’s Katmai (“Katmai”). Theresa and Doc placed 5th and 6th in walk trot pleasure, their first show of this year.  Courtney placed 5th and 6th in walk trot english, Jordan and Lucky placed 2nd in pony at halter, and they both placed in showmanship 13 and under.  Danette placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th in english and pony at halter.  It was Denette and Jordan’s first show!  Good job kids!!! 🙂
